Zero Waste Challenge
Each year Metro Vancouver hosts the Zero Waste Conference, an even that includes keynotes, dialogues, salons and Q&As for industry, government, non-profit and citizens interested in the topic of Zero Waste. In 2012, I was selected to represent one of three team leads for the Zero Waste Design Challenge, which would take place during the conference over a 6 hour period. Teams were given a design challenge at the start of the day and needed to complete both design, presentation, market specs, cost and market analysis, as well as sketch out their extended consumer responsibility as product makers. The high-pressure competition was filmed for television and finished with a ‘Dragon’s Den’-style showdown with three experts judging the projects. Oh yeah… we won.
