My wife Julie works in the Nature House, which sits on the South Eastern corner of Lost Lagoon in Vancouver’s Stanley Park. The Nature House is an amazing place that a lot of visitors to the park miss and I might even go as far to as to say that ‘nature’ is something that many people miss too as they stroll around with their smart phones directly in front of their faces.

I wrote this poem to do several things: to reconnect walkers with the lagoon, highlight some of the species that they might share their stroll with and encourage them to visit the ‘hidden house of nature’ below their feet. The fantastic chalk artwork was created by the immeasurably awesome multi-talented Corrina Keeling.
