‘Canada’s Privacy Plan’ is a crowdsourced Agenda for tackling Canada’s Privacy Deficit. 125,000 everyday Canadians engaged in creation of this privacy report by Open Media and the wealth of information on ‘what could be’ is powerful stuff – with a clear binary between two potential futures. Illustrator Priscilla Yu and myself teamed-up again to work on creating an emotional connection to the oft-times difficult to grasp subject of digital spying and show how powerful spy agencies can monitor everyday Canadian’s and gather information on their activities.
Our primary objective was to make people care deeply about this issue and offer them a choice about the kind of world they thought that Canadian’s could live in: one of digital suppression or one of freedom, connection and sharing. The report outlines in detail what the overwhelming majority of Canadian’s asked for… and sadly, with all the bills being passed by the Federal Conservative’s recently, we got the worst version of privacy possible.
